day 121, Xi'an

We had arranged to be picked up by the hostel at 7:34, however as the fucking train was 2 hours late and we had no way to contact the train we did not know if they would wait. We exited the station to be met by a swarm of people, however in the distance I saw my name  on a bit of cardboard and thanked whoever for being so kind. We were met by a lovely Chinese girl called Joyce, who lead us to a car and drove us to the hostel, checked in, given free beer and coffee tokens and let us go to sleep for 3 hours, which turned into 4 after a shower and much needed teeth clean. We met  and went for a wander round Xi’an, agreeing to do the warriors tomorrow. We went into the drum tower as well as the bell tower. Xi’an seems more densely populated then Beijing, though it is a lot smaller, I think Beijing does very well at hiding it’s population density. After the 2 towers we head in for a dinner, I hadn’t drunk or eaten anything since 7 the previous evening and we devoured an amazing Chinese dinner. From there back to the hostel to book a hotel in Chengdu as all hostels were booked up becausise of golden week. We went for a post dinner wander to see the big pagooda’s but they were closed, back to the hostel for some beers, watched the finals of the asian cup (ping pong), couple more beers, a cracking chat, internet not working but ahh well, meeting tomorrow early morning for terra-cotta warriors, bloody knackered, dehydrated and accidentally merry and looking forward to bed an insane amount, so goodnight x
