day 122, Xi'an

Slept damn well as you would expect, met brian downstairs, successfully connected to the internet which was cool, pinged a few emails to mum, dad and ali which was nice, then packed up and checked out, ditched our stuff at the hostel and went to go to the terracotta warriors! We stopped off at a supermarket then got a bus to the train station where there were swarms of people, where Xi’an is a walled city it seems everything is a lot more compact and even Chinese people were taking pictures of the crowds it was that crazy. We were starting to regret not going through the hostel to go see the warriors and was starting to worry about public transport congestion, however we easily found the line for the bus which takes us to the warriors and was relieved to see they only let on the amount that could sit which was bloody marvellous. The ride there was quite uneventful, then in the queue this bloke stopped us and asked us if we had student id, we did and got in for half price. Going in Brian had heard that we should do it in reverse order, as pit 1 was the most impressive save it for last which turned out to be cracking advice. It was heaving with people however it was very cool and I bloody loved it, pit 3 and 2 were alright but pit 1 was stunning, unbelievable that they are over 2000 years old. After a few hours in there we easily caught the bus again (at a cost of 70p, as opposed to 5quid fifty) and drove home. We caught the subway back to the hostel as couldn’t find the bus, then got our stuff with the aim of getting to our new hostel. After a little walk to the bus stop we caught the bus we needed at the second attempt as it was bloody full, and after 10 mins of going nowhere we arrived at our stop which the hostel was in. after walking up and down and asking people we couldn’t find it, so brian went for a walk to see if could find it. after 20mins he hadn’t come back and me and kelly started to worry, so we locked the bags together I went off to find brian. I saw him wandering along, we were staying at number 11, we found number 7 and number 15, but nothing inbetween. We  asked this bloke at this toy shop and he walked us into a courtyard and a reasonably posh hotel, on the web it only had a rating of 59% and thought it couldn’t be this, though after a bit of a communication problem solved by google translate it was the correct place, only they didn’t have any record of our reservation. After a bit of negotiation we arranged a 3 bed room for a reasonable price considering, it had only been 4 hours since we left the hostel in search for the new one despite the fact they can’t be more then 15 min drive away, and we were knackered. As it was late no Chinese place was open so we ended up at Dico’s, a Chinese burger chain which was usual fast food, so shit basically, back to the hotel to mope, check internet with football on in the background , hopefully booked the ferry to japan for the 18th which would be good, and things are looking up for a river cruise!
