day 129, still on the ferry

Today were were going through the first gorge in the morning, before doing a tour of the 3 little gorges and then back on the boat for the next 2 gorges. There was another trip at 7 which we both gave a miss to, then again went to the OD (observation deck) for breakfast and a bit of a read, again a conversation with Deng, before passing through the first gorge which was brilliant and appears on their 10 RMB note. It was quite funny to see all the Chinese people fight for photographs in each others hats and sunglasses, and the weather was really nice so was great. At half 11 we docked and followed the crowd onto another boat, where we went through the 3 little gorges, which again was very pleasant. We docked and split up into cute little wooden boats with a Chinese guide who the Chinese people loved as he made them laugh with singing and jokes, and a bit of dressing up. We went back to the bigger boat and docked, got taken by golf cart around an old town, got off, went for a walk round an old town which was empty part from some people trying to flog you tat or food, back on the golf cart and back on the boat to take us back to our boat. On the way this woman talked over a microphone for a good 2 hours at ridiculous volume that no-one was seeming to listen to as they were all sleeping, it was a piercing noise which penetrated the loudest volume of my ipod. Kelly finished Shantaram so I started on that and am loving it, though have put it down in order to carry on with ‘the amazing adventures of Kavalier and Clay’. back in the boat now, about to pass through the other 2 gorges, we have the room to ourselves as the other 2 left which is nice, about to have some food, and probably a early night as really tired from the heat and up in the morning for a long day, going to the dam which is a 2 hour bus ride, then a bus ride to Yichan, then a bus ride to Wuhan and a hostel for the night before onward to Guilin!
