day 234, Hanoi

After breakfast I met up with Robbie, Peter, Anders and Michael to go to the Snake village, although being TET tomorrow it was closed and nothing was really open. We went for a walk around town seeing nothing in particular, went back to the hostel to chill out and watch some tennis, out to dinner to a little side street for some noodle soup, tried snails for the first time, back to the hostel for a movie, the Mechanic, a standard Jason Statham film, then out to dinner to a nice place and start drinking for the Tet holiday. We went to a pub to watch the Spurs City game, had a really good time and a good game, went for another one and watched the first half of the arsenal united game and out to the street in order to see the fireworks. As a display it was lacklustre, like a kid being given fireworks and just setting them off in one go, which was really enjoyable to see. There were tonnes of people about and a stage with a godawful song playing, we walked back to a club and got battered, sitting down, attempted dancing and chatting which was cool. Went home around four and phoned home for the first time in ages which was really good to speak to them, though had to go to bed as blind drunk.
